This project saw the conversion of a 1970s Merchant Builder garage into a studio apartment. The design uses a carefully arranged open layout with a few key enclosure and separation devices – such as a raised platform bedroom and a two-sided bathroom vanity – to create a functional and liveable space. Views within the apartment, and to the outside, have been considered to maximise an open feeling whilst maintaining privacy.
Much of the fit-out is made with salvaged and second-hand materials, including doors, windows, and kitchen and bathroom fittings.
